The classes start with a light warm up and dynamic stretch. Next up is forty minutes of drills comprising of calisthenic exercises, capoeira and yoga. Don’t worry if you haven’t done any of this before, your trainer Gabriel will be able to demonstrate clearly and adjust the class to suit your body.
Calisthenic exercises consist of a variety of simple often rhythmical movements, generally without using equipment or apparatus. They are intended to increase body strength and flexibility, with movements such as bending, jumping, twisting, kicking using only your body weight as resistance.
Capoeira was created with a purpose to express one of our most basic instincts, freedom. Capoeira is a Brazilian derived mix of marial art and dance. As a physical activity it improves coordination, balance, speed, flexibility and body awareness.
Yoga is over five thousand years old and is a series of structured poses ‘asanas’ linked with breathing. There are many studies supporting that with Yoga practice you can lower you levels of stress, mood swings, depression and anxiety. It also improves blood circulation, core strength and flexibility.
Classes are divided into seasonal cycles, focusing on five different aspects of fitness; cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition and flexibility.
Clients often choose to do the class barefoot or with Vibram shoes (Five toe shoes) to facilitate muscle awakening and neuro-system contractions.
